Buck Rogers 3 3/4″ Action Figures Retrospecive

Frist off a quick look at the history of Buck Rogers:

The history of Buck Rogers: Buck Rogers was created by Philip Francis Nowlan and his very first appearance was as Anthony Rogers in the short story "Armageddon 2419 A.D and was published in August 1928 issue of Amazing Stories, from there Nowlan was approached to create a science fiction comic strip which debuted on January 7, 1929, as Buck Rogers and the 25th Century. Three years later Buck also made the jump to radio four times a week starting on November 7, 1932. After that Buck Rogers was transferred to the big screen for several movies which as of writing this some are on Amazon Prime to view. Fast forward to 1979 to the Buck Rogers in the 25th Century movie starring Gil Gerard as Buck and Erin Grey as Colonel Wilma Deerring which was then made into a weekly tv series with some changes over the 2 seasons, this is what the Mego line we are looking back at is based on, so lets journey back to 1979 and have a look at the Mego Buck Rogers 3.75 action figure line.

With the release of the Buck Rogers and the 25th Century Movie and TV show Mego released 2 different scale of figures one being 3 3/4" and a 12" series but today we are covering the 3 3/4 line. The series consisted of 8 figures including all your mains like Buck Rogers, Wilma Deering, Twiki, Dr Huer, Ardella, Tiger Man, Killer Kana Draconian Guard and Draco.

Buck Rogers Figures

Back row: Killer Kane, Draconian Guard, Draco, Draconian Guard

Middle Row: Dr Huer, Ardella nad Tiger Man

Front Row: Buck Rogers and Twiki ( Wilma no pictured as i did not have her in my collection at this point)

All figures are of the o-ring style which is very similar to G.I.Joe with knee joints, elbow joints etc, sadly my only beef with the figures is the lack of peg holes in the feel or how their guns are moulded to their hips and with Twiki if his o-ring breaks you have to remove the sticker to take the screw out to fix him. Otherwise its a great line which is pretty easy track down and the hardest to find and most expensive is Wilma Deering.

Vehicles and Play-sets
