Name: CASTLE GRAYSKULL
Toy Line: Masters of the Universe
Year: 1982Company: Mattel (U.S.A.)
Size of the castle: 48 cm x 30 cm x 20 cm
Castle Grayskull was originally released by Mattel in 1982 as part of wave 1 of the Masters of the universe toy line, which was intended to be the centre piece of the toy line with He-man and Skeletor both coming with half of the Power Sword and when these are put together you can open the Drawbridge. Some of the play features the castle included are a trap door, elevator and a plastic handle so it could act as a carrying case. The Play-set included a ladder, removable flag pole, turret cannon, weapons rack with 9 weapons, and a "battle trainer" device. The original packing art was created by Rudy Obrero and depicted Skeletor in the jaw bridge as the art was completed before the story concept was created thus making people think this was to be Skeletors Castle.

As this play-set nears almost 40 years old some of these parts are becoming harder to find in decent shape, with the Pistol and the sword being some the hardest items to track down. The Cardboard cutouts are also rare in decent shape with several reproduction versions now available online or the printing of your own.
