In 1984 Mattel released wave 3 of Masters of the Universe which featured Fisto: Heroic Hand-to-Hand Fighter and other figures which we will talk about another time, fast-forward to 2021 Mattel brings us to wave 5 of the Masters of the Universe Origins line with a new version of Fisto. As part of wave 5 of the MOTU Origins lines which also features Lords of Power Mer-man, Faker and the second version of Evil-lyn all of these are currently out at retail at the time of writing this, so join me as we review this amazing figure from Mattel.
Like others in the Origins, line Fisto stands about 5.5 to 6 inches tall with 16 points of articulation and the standard removable parts that have helped make this line great for kids and collectors alike. Fisto is packaged on a retro-inspired card with the red rock bust and standard bubble and mini-comic with a small instruction sheet about how to pop the figure apart.
Sadly Fisto does not come with a spring-loaded arm which isn't the end of the world save those deluxe figures for ones like Mosquitor and Buzz-saw Hordak that need those options, I like the figure better without the spring feature it gives more options for posing for pictures, my only issue would be the fist doesn't seem to come off as I would have loved to swap with parts of Trap-jaw, Roboto or The Fiend. Packaged with Fisto is his classic Sword which I don't know if it has a name as others in the like i.e sword of power, Sword of Rakash, and his armour is a nice update on the vintage version with what seems like a darker purple colour which looks better I think.
Overall Fisto is a nice update on his vintage counterpart, the added articulation adds more play or posing options for making an awesome display more than just a figure standing on the shelf holding his sword. So if you can track down Fisto at your local toy shop etc he is a great buy for the cost, at $14.97 MSRP you could easily keep with the rule of 2.
